]]>“My life’s purpose is to make others smile,” reads his bio. “I once thought I couldn’t do anything important because I’m so little, but I’ve learned you don’t have to be big to make a BIG difference in the world.” No truer words have e’er been spoken.
Indeed, Norbert’s presence makes a difference. A proud philanthropist, he serves as a therapy dog and volunteers at Children’s Hospital LA. Over the past years, he has also volunteered at nursing homes, special events, and schools. Because when you’re this cute, it’s only fair to share your gift with others.
Alongside his human owner, Julie Steines (Freyermuth), Norbert has also launched the project Norberthood For Good. “Everyone who helps me spread smiles is part of the Norberthood!” notes the pup. “My mission as a therapy dog is simple: to spread smiles, inspire kindness, and bring comfort to those in need,” his website further reads. “In addition to my time, I have donated thousands of dollars and Norbert products to charitable causes. Philanthropy is the foundation of the Norberthood.”

]]>The post Edouard Martinet Uses Discarded Metal to Craft Sculptures of Insects, Birds, and Fish appeared first on Wallpaper Data.
]]>Most of Martinet’s sculptures start as a sketch. From there, the artist goes through his impressive collection of metal parts to pick out the ones that fit perfectly or can be manipulated in order to bring his vision to life. Sometimes, it can take months or even years for him to finish a particular piece, as he prefers to wait until he finds the perfect part instead of making adjustments to his original idea.
Martinet sources his materials by visiting flea markets, garage sales, and antique shops. There, he picks up items that he believes could fit in a piece he works at that particular moment or could come in handy in the future.
One particularly impressive thing about Martinet’s creative process is that he doesn’t weld the individual parts of the sculpture. Instead, he uses screws and fasteners to keep them in place.
Martinet regularly shares his newest creations on social media. Scroll down to check out more of them.

]]>Gluckstein is an artist based in London, who’s been fascinated with animals for as long as he can remember. He traveled and volunteered through Asia, Africa, and South America over the years, and these experiences informed his journey as an artist.
He now specializes in capturing the essence of animals that crossed his path through life-sized sculptures made with recycled materials.
“I have continually strived to make my practice more and more sustainable, and my new collection is made entirely of recycled cardboard and paper. Its accessibility and versatility allow me to bring the animal to life and capture their character and intriguing beauty while creating zero waste,” explains Gluckstein on his official website.
In addition to putting an effort into making his artwork as eco-friendly as possible, he also hopes his body of work will raise awareness about endangered species, contributing to their preservation. His works of art often take shape of lions, elephants, and rhinos that have been hunted for years in the African wilderness.

]]>While humans are finding ways to deal with those consequences, the animals have it way tougher to adapt to the changes. This is what inspired artist Lisa Ericson to create a captivating series of hyperrealistic paintings that show animals dealing with rising sea levels.
In Ericson’s works, a rabbit can be seen trying to avoid the water by climbing on a cactus, while a deer attempts to keep its head above water by standing on a coral reef.
Ericson says that the goal of her paintings is to “awake” the interest of humans in the natural world and make them rethink how their actions affect it.
“By creating these pieces, I’m doing the same thing I hope my viewers are doing — personally reckoning with the immense scope of our global climate disaster,” Ericson said in a recent chat with Hyperallergic.
Ericson’s most recent series is currently on display at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, California. If you can’t make it to LA, then check out more of her works below.

]]>Artist Matt McCarthy is creating surreal photomanipulations in which he imagines cats as giants inhabiting our world. They are still adorable but seem like they could cause humans a lot of inconvenience.
McCarthy shows his giant cats blocking busy streets, taking over crowded beaches, and climbing tall buildings that they could destroy with just one move of their paw.
According to McCarthy, he got the idea for this unique project while observing his own cat playing with a bug.
“The idea initially came to me as I was observing my own cats when they were playing with a bug that entered our house,” McCarthy shared in a chat with Bored Panda. “I wondered how they would react if my wife and I were that small. They’re so sweet and cuddly that we tend to forget they’re apex predators.”
McCarthy’s works have found quite a lot of fans on the internet. His Instagram page has close to 130K followers, while his photomanipualtions can be found on all sorts of products, from calendars to T-shirts.

]]>Ciullo is the creative mind behind a popular Instagram page @mycartoonpets, home to some amazing illustrations of Disneyfied pets. Pet owners from around the world send Ciullo photos of their bellowed friends, and she uses her magic (otherwise known as drawing skills) to turn them into Disney characters.
In a recent chat with Bored Panda, Ciullo said that she accidentally discovered her talent. After getting a dog called Sherlock, she decided to improve her animal-drawing skills and did a few portraits of him. Everyone around her loved the way Sherlock turned out, and she has been drawing pets in Disney animation style ever since.
According to Ciullo, making these portraits isn’t an easy job. She invests a great effort to make sure every owner gets the best version of their pet, so it can take days for her to complete a single work. However, she says it is worth it because of how owners react to her portraits.
“They either cry of joy when it’s a pet who crossed the rainbow bridge, or they’re just happy and amazed to see their fur babies turned into cartoon style,” she shares.
