Have you ever wondered how the letters of the English alphabet got their shape? It is a compilation of interesting stories, and you can hear them all thanks to an educational video by YouTube content creator Olly Richards.
In a video shared on YouTube a while back, Richards went through the origins of each letter used in the English alphabet while sharing all sorts of cool and interesting facts.
For example, the letter “A” originated from the Phoenician alphabet. It was originally turned sideways or upside down while its shape resembled one of an ox head.
The letter “R” has its origins in Ancient Egypt, where it mimicked the profile of a human head and was pronounced “resh,” which meant “head.” The Greeks and the Romans later modified the letter to suit their needs and gave it its current shape.
