Sea glass is one of the ocean’s most precious treasures, thrown away and transformed into something majestic by the waves, sand, and time. The founder of Lita Sea Glass recognized its endless beauty and decided to transform the sea glass she collected into wearable works of art.
Lita was passionate about jewelry long before sea glass came into her life. She had been running her own shop for several years when a customer came in with a mason jar filled with sea glass, asking her to transform it into jewelry.
The customer explained she collected the sea glass with her late grandmother during their summers together in Martha’s Vineyard, and this encounter forever changed Lita’s journey as an artist.
“She gave me the remaining pieces of sea glass as a gift and said that the jewelry I had created for her was so dear to her heart that she hoped it would inspire me as well. This jar of sea glass turned out to be a gift that changed my life and the course of my business forever,” she explains on her official website.
She started collecting sea glass on the rocky shores of the south coast of Massachusetts and decided to transform it into jewelry. Lita Sea Glass’ assortment now includes everything from necklaces and pendants to earrings and bracelets, but sea glass engagement rings are her specialty.
