Nicole McLaughlin Creates All Sorts of Quirky and Unusual Fashion Items

Shoes made out of tennis balls, shorts made out of bags of Haribo gummies, and basketball turned into a glove. These are all fashion ideas that Nicole McLaughlin turned into a reality.

McLaughlin, who works as a graphic designer at sportswear maker Rebook, uses her free time to push the boundaries of fashion. Her fashion creations are crafted using material that isn’t usually used for clothes and shoes and generally have a futuristic-like look.

According to McLaughlin, this is a passion project and a way to express his creativity. However, it also helps her generate ideas for her day job.

“I truly love the idea of personal projects, and I encourage everyone to do them, even if you’re not a designer,” she shares. “It’s self-gratification, and nobody can tell you you’re wrong because it’s yours!”

McLaughlin’s fashion items can sometimes look a bit over-the-top or downright bizarre. However, this is purposely so as it allows the designer to challenge the fashion norms. Her message to observers is to look at her creations with an open mind and not to take them “too seriously.”

The talented Boston-based designer usually shares her quirky fashion on Instagram, where she has more than 800K followers. Continue scrolling to see more of them below.
