]]>National Parks in the United States have a surprising number of bad reviews online, with people disliking all sorts of things, from the observation that North Cascades National Park has “too much mountains, trees, and snow” to feeling that Zion National Park’s scenery seems “distant.”
Baffled by these reviews, designer Amber Share decided to put a “positive, fun spin on such a negative mindset.” She set on a quest to make a poster for each of the 62 national parks included in the National Parks System with a quote of a bad review at its focus.
The posters, part of the series Subpar Parks, are beautifully designed with a vintage vibe, while the reviews are done in a hand lettering style that makes them sound less negative and more amusing.
Share’s idea turned out to be quite popular on social media. It not only brought her a significant following on Instagram but also spawned a series of posters, stamps, calendars, and other fun products. The artist also expanded the series to include national parks from around the world.
