This Illustrator Daydreams In Pastel

Fran Meneses, aka Frannerd, is well recognized for her pastel aesthetic. Born in Chile and currently based in Berlin, where she shares a home with her husband and cats, she recalls drawing by the age of three. “I’ve been drawing for as long as I could remember,” she relayed in an interview with Alive as Always. “My parents have always supported handmade hobbies (drawing, reading, playing outside); as far away as we could from the TV, everything was cool.”

Having grown up, she went on to study Graphic Design – a practice which forms the basis for her work to this day. “By the end of the second year I was doing an internship in a local newspaper and for some reason, all the designers and journalists knew that I had interests in the illustration field,” she explained. “So they asked me if I can illustrate an article because they ran out of pictures for that particular subject. Long story short: I illustrated that article and the feeling of seeing my illustration published was the most amazing thing.”

Now with a buzzing YouTube and Instagram page, Frannerd has come to be a household name in the illustration community, amassing well over 330k followers on Instagram, on top of 240k subscribers on YouTube. In 2019, she also launched a new online shop We Are Nice Humans where she sells second-hand t-shirts and dope stationery.

“I have a lot of things and people who inspire me,” she says. “Having a window next to me inspires me. Also reading books (any type of book and illustration books) keeps my creativity moving.” Visiting her Instagram page might just get your creative juices flowing!
